I just got the table of contents for the June issue of the American Sociological Review and, all of a sudden, it hit me:
Magnus Thor Torfason: Coolest academic name ever.
I mean, just, wow. That’s more awesome than my plan to rename myself “Otto von Deathstrike” once I have my Ph.D.! And the paper sounds neat, too, so win-win!

I thought you were going to be jealous of Michaela DeSoucey who clearly thought of the best research project ever where she gets to traipse through Europe eating cheese, foie gras, and drinking champagne AND she gets an ASR piece out of it.

Nah. I don’t drink, don’t have much of a taste for cheese, and don’t particularly care for foie gras, so no envy there. Now, if she had wandered through Turkey… then we coulda gotten a little food jealousy going.
