sad day for soc blogging

Dan has shuttered his own blog, Blue Monster. We hope he continues to post sometimes over here.

He’s uncertain about the status of his archives and so I won’t do a tribute montage of material from past posts. But can I just say: in addition to other delights, he deserves a place in the Soc Blogging Hall of Fame for the most consistently clever ideas for how to integrate a camera phone into blogging.

I still have never actually tried the beverage Blue Monster. I drink way too much Coke Zero than is healthy, but have never had any kind of “energy drink.” I think I’m worried that if I start down that path, given my nature, it’s only a matter of time before I’m wheeling around an IV of the stuff so I can be consuming it continuously.

  1. I agree, sad day. I’m sitting in a coffee shop using wi-fi with a fellow soc blogger, and we both read Dan’s farewell post at about the same time (probably disturbed other customers with our audible groans). I hope to see you at Scatterplot regularly Dan.

  2. Socio-bloggers groaning together in a coffee shop. Yes, I imagine that would indeed disturb other customers. I’m disturbed myself.
