American Sociological Association ballots are now out. I’ve posted my ballots some times in the past, but will refrain from doing so this year. The blogging community may wish to note, however, the presence of Kieran Healy on the ballot for committee on publications. Rumor is that our generous pals over at orgtheory are promising drinks for everyone–literally, multiple drinks, for every single member of ASA, including compulsory drinking for teetotalers–if he wins.

Oops! The dreaded double post–you all can see how well coordinated we are here. Sorry for stepping on your post.
Dude, what happened to your campaign promise to stop listing city of publication in references? Jeremy, change we can’t believe in?
@2 – I assure you I have not forgotten about this matter, but there’s only been one meeting in my term so far.
I thought you could so a “signing statement?”

What Jeremy says is true, bearing in mind the way that the world “literally” is typically used. (As in, “He literally exploded”.)
Am I the only one who wishes that Karen Cook and Erik Olin Wright didn’t go up for the ASA presidency in the same year? With no disrespect meant to former presidents or candidates, I would have gladly voted for either of them in almost all (note: slight ambiguous hedge here!) of the ASA presidential elections in the past decade.
They may be annoyed too. I think the process of setting up elections typically means that candidates don’t know whom they are running against until it is too late.
