at 29 i’m already ornery

If I’m ever giving a talk and it’s advertised like this, I won’t be surprised if no one shows up. Perhaps I’m no longer “fun”. And maybe it’s a bad thing that I don’t think good talks should be fun. Then again, this is more capricious than fun. And that’s actually something I object to in academia.

My son made his last birthday party invitation by himself on the computer. Not only was every letter a different color, each letter was a different font. It made me nuts

is that title a punning play on words? I was under the impression that ‘poetry’ etymologically refers to ‘creation’, since ‘haematopoesis’ is the formation of red blood cells

I’m so distracted by the colors I can’t even think about the topic. Then the dork in me starts looking for patterns. What does it mean that these three letter are the same color? Is it a code? Hmm… well, I doubt that was their point.
