meta public sociology

Socioblogopia’s own Kristina B gets a chance to do some public sociology writing about another sociologist doing public sociology.

Myself, I have a soft spot for Glamour magazine for two reasons: (1) my recollection is they were one of the last of the major women’s magazine to hold out against the popular demand to provide horoscopes and (2) a good friend of mine once did a rollicking Halloween costume going as a Glamour fashion don’t.

It’s nice to see a sociologist other than Pepper Schwartz in Glamour. This controversy reminds me of one of my favorite short clips to use in classes, Kiri Davis’ documentary - A Girl Like Me.

    Woo! Hooray for public soc.

On a down-side, I got sucked into a little troll action in the comments. Sigh. I thought, at first, that the person was attempting to make some sort of legitimate argument. Too late I realized my error. Ahh the dangers of sociology in the wild.
